Over the last few years I’ve been so honoured to work with a little local school that punches way above its weight. The combination of really passionate staff and an involved parent body has led to some incredible opportunities for these children. It was fun to capture all the chaos and laughs from their Colour Run today.

I just love keeping my newborn sessions pure and simple.

There are so many props and outfits available to buy, complex wrapping techniques and poses to learn … but I’ve found my style. Keep a neutral colour palette, be guided by the baby and just focus on capturing them as they are.

I was delighted to have the adorable 10 day old Chloe come in for a newborn session today. She was very interested to see what was happening and didn’t want to sleep in case she missed something important. A quick catnap in Dad’s arms to get her through. 

In the last year I’ve had the pleasure of capturing the relationships between so many wonderful fathers and their children. From an incredible 2am water birth, to newborns and teenagers, christenings, extended family shoots with three generations together, to a 95th birthday for a much loved great-grandfather, and the emotion of being the father of the bride. I’m always drawn to the ocean pools. Even if it means laying on the wet edge, with water lapping over, slowly inching closer on my stomach to get a photo of a bird. Back to the car with soaking wet clothes on a 12 degree day. Bring on Summer.

My absolute most favourite time of the day to shoot is the last hour before sunset. The light is soft and beautiful, casting a golden glow over everything. Magical. For those of you that have had a shoot with me at that time, you’ll know that I might say we are finished, only to keep turning around and saying “oh, just one more shot” until the last of the sun disappears.

Such gorgeous and happy little boys to fill up this family with laughter and love. I think as brothers they are going to be firm friends.

I still struggle to get my head around the size of these cruise ships that come into the harbour. Their sheer size puts everything else out of perspective.

A thoughtful gift for a special birthday present for your mum … get all the family together for a photo shoot. We battled a crazy, windy morning on one side of Palm Beach, then stepped into the quiet sunshine on the beach side. Happy birthday Susan.

A first birthday celebration today with eight children let loose on eight cakes. Quiet? No. Clean? No. Loads of fun? Most definitely!

Big happy birthday wishes to Cecily on her 90th birthday. Always ready with a smile, a cheeky quip and a laugh. Such a beautiful and positive approach to life.
