Shoot the chef …

amanda-naylor-photography-shoot-the-chef-2016-2

Despite failing eyesight, Vera remains fiercely independent and active, just returning from a week skiing with her husband. The next day was their 57th wedding anniversary, so after the shoot, I got to see her wedding dress laid out on the bed, and to sit down and look through their wedding album.

Four generations …

amanda-naylor-photography-family-3

Rare to be able to photograph four generations of girls from the one family. Aged between 8 weeks and 87 years, luckily only one needed to nap during our shoot.

After photographing the 9/11 tribute lights in 2014, I had packed away my gear and was heading back to the subway. I saw the view from Brooklyn Heights and couldn’t walk away. It remains one of my favourite images from our time living in NY.

Grown …

amanda-naylor-photography-2016-1

Somehow I turned around and my son has gone and grown up on me. 6 foot tall. Size 12 shoes. Teen angst. 13 years old.

He is passionate about his role in the army cadets and is heading off tonight to spend a weekend sleeping under a tarp in a paddock down near Canberra.

Art by stealth …

Amanda Naylor Photograpy MCA-1

A great privilege to attend the MCA for a cocktail party, then get to access the works after dark in the closed gallery. I tend to be more interested in the people contemplating the art, and have the security guards worried as I stalk people a little to photograph their silhouette against the art.

This sculpture of Arnhem Land by Barayuwa Mununggurr forms part of the new exhibition ‘Today Tomorrow Yesterday’.

Father’s Day …

ALNneg0463

Undeniable proof that raising children causes grey hair. Thanks for always loving our children, over and above everything else. For giving them the courage to be honest in themselves and explore the world, safe in the knowledge they are loved and supported XX

Amanda Naylor Photograpy canvas-1

Excited to unwrap the canvases that are going to be displayed at a local school. So many vibrant images, it was difficult to choose just ten to print.
